We hear our thoughts, over-analyse our ideas, and we can focus on problem-solving for instant gratification. Sadly, we can become so fixated on being in our minds, that we can lose touch with who we are at a deeper level. With the powerful influence of technology and social media, it can be easy to over-identify with our thoughts and feel disconnected from our bodies, a sense of purpose, and the truth of whom we know ourselves to be. But what would happen if we listened to ourselves more deeply? What if we shifted from superficial listening to a more profound inner dialogue with our higher wisdom? Deeper listening gives us the gift of reconnecting with our soul and rediscovering our true nature. How do we go from living in a constant state of mental busyness to deep soul-listening? It can feel a stretch when the world offers so many distractions, keeping us in a mode of surface-level thinking and interacting. For me, I need to step away from the external noise before I can listen to myself more deeply. Transitioning my focus and energy from my mind and body and being open to my spirit, is a process. I find that walks in the bush or by the sea, help me to slow down and ground my energy. Sometimes I enjoy a dip in the spa, an ocean swim or a massage to reconnect with my body. I know, that giving myself time to unwind mentally and physically is necessary before I can listen to my higher self and connect with my inner truth. Preparing my surroundings is also an important part of this process. If I'm at home, I'll clear away the physical clutter, ensure there is plenty of natural light and fresh air, and I may light a candle or burn some incense. This helps to create a more calming energy around me, which makes it more conducive to creating stillness within. When we listen to ourselves at a deeper level we can begin to see our uniqueness and strengths with more clarity and acknowledge the areas where we're still evolving. When we do this, we open up to seeing ourselves with more neutrality, allowing room for acceptance of our light and shadow sides. We begin to view past experiences not with regret or harsh judgment but with gratitude for the lessons and insights they’ve brought us. The beauty of deep listening is that it brings us the freedom to be ourselves without comparison or self-limitation. As we connect with our deeper truth, we no longer feel the need to run from our fears or deny our strengths. Instead, we find acceptance. We become more curious about our journey of growth and evolution, helping us to embrace all aspects of ourselves. This opens the door to seeking new possibilities, allowing us to be more present in our lives, and making choices that are more aligned with our true purpose. And as we develop the practice of deep listening to ourselves, something magical happens: our ability to empathize with others expands. When we listen to ourselves with understanding and compassion, we naturally extend the same to those around us. It creates an awareness of others and the ripple effect enriches our relationships, fostering a greater sense of connection. The practice of deep listening leads to a life where we value well-being and mindfulness. It encourages moments of reflection where we gain greater awareness of ourselves, and our surroundings. By making time to listen more deeply, we align more closely with our truth, which means we can live with more freedom, inner peace, self-acceptance, and lightness of being. Through this practice, we create space for growth, both within ourselves and in the world around us.
