Four simple steps to restore your energy.

Are you feeling exhausted, mentally and emotionally drained, and 'couldn't-care' uninspired?
Finding the energy to feel enthusiastic about life can feel impossible when our energy reserves are empty!  This feels especially true when we collapse at the end of a hectic year, reflect on what went wrong, what passed as okay, and then promise ourselves to do better and give more in the new year! 

Where did we get the idea that this is good for us, good for others, and the best path to happiness and wellbeing?

When we've been in the habit of running our life at adrenaline-paced speed, giving all of our time, energy and resources to family, business commitments, friends, school or social committees, it's a sign we've lost control of our personal boundaries and failed to recognise the importance of prioritizing our wellbeing.

Spiritual and emotional distress can take a hold when we disconnect from the needs of our body, and we don't know how to take care of our mental and emotional wellbeing. 


If nourishing ourselves has not been something we do regularly, where do we start to make improvements?

The first step towards restoring ourself to wellness and vitality, is to clear old stagnant energy and establish better routines. We can do this by implementing some simple daily habits to restore our energy, for improved mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.  

Here are 4 simple things I do that could help you.  They don't require big changes to your life, and they provide immediate benefits.  


  1. Starting the day by moving our body with gentle exercise helps to oxygenate the body. It lifts our energy after being still all night, and it helps to shift our mental state to being more forward focused on the opportunities waiting for us.

    As the sun rises I love to go for a walk in the fresh air. The movement of walking helps me to connect with my body, by synchronizing the left and right sides of my brain with the left and right sides of my body.  I also use this time for quiet reflection and reconnecting with myself. 

    My other favourite way to infuse my body with more energy is a 6am barre-yoga class with Jodi @jodi_barreyoga three times a week. I love her classes and hanging out with other women who are also dedicated to living a better lifestyle. 💚

  2. Going for a swim in the ocean, lake or river (or a refreshing cool shower) does wonders for cleansing stuck energy, rebalancing our chakras, releasing tension and clearing sluggish energy.  A swim always helps me to feel rejuvenated.

  3. Some time in solitude is necessary for our mental and emotional wellbeing. When our lives are filled with too much over-stimulation and unhealthy negative energy, it drains us mentally and physically, and this distracts us from reconnecting with our values, our purpose, and what’s most important to us.  Without time to be still, we can easily be knocked off our perch and find ourselves directionless.

    Time in nature is especially helpful. Trees, plants and wildlife have regenerative life-giving energy that can help us restore ourselves to a place of equilibrium and calm. The key is to be the observer of ourselves and our surrounds, noticing the abundance in our life, feeling grateful, being more self-aware, and listening more deeply to our inner spiritual wisdom. 

    Quietness is not for problem solving, it’s the time you give yourself to receive nourishment and to fill your cup in a way that brings you back to your authentic self.


  4. A healthy breakfast is a great start to the day for improving our energy stores, and nurturing our brain and body. It's amazing how clear we become and how new perspectives seem possible, when we've fed ourselves with the right nourishments.

    This morning I chose a vegan Vitality Bowl from @M.Love.Cafe with fresh fruit, nuts, granola, coconut yoghurt and spirulina, which was an absolute treat with my almond coffee!  Thank you Martin 🙏💚

Consistently incorporating simple habits like these into our daily routine, can make a huge difference to the way we feel in our body, improving the quality of our thinking, lifting our mood and our energy, and helping ourselves to see the possibilities in life.

Prioritizing our health and wellbeing is giving ourselves love, respect, and nourishment for our mind, body and soul. This is vital if we want to regain our personal power, and create a healthier, more balanced and happier version of ourselves!
