How do we break the cycle of feeling stuck?

Creating change can feel challenging, particularly when our energy is low and we are not inspired about our future direction.  That feeling of stagnation or being stuck in a rut can be enough to cause further procrastination and the belief that life doesn't get any better than this.  Sadly this is a rather self-defeating attitude.

Despite our best outward appearances, we can all suffer from procrastination, self-sabotage and being stuck.  So what can we do to break the cycle to create forward change?
When we know we are ready to create change in our life, to shift gear for improvement, we know it's time to let go of old ways of thinking and doing, and embrace new beginnings with a sense of adventure. To experience new levels of progress and fulfilment it's necessary to do things differently.

It helps to be curious about new possibilities and to explore other avenues that are aligned with our values and what we love to do.  Often, it's the very things that we love doing that are the ways we best demonstrate our unique talents and strengths.  When we do what we love, we also find ourself living in flow and effortlessly contributing to our community.

What are some small changes you can make today that are more aligned with your values and what you love doing?  Make a small list of a few simple things that your closest friends and colleagues can easily say you do well and without effort.

Change does not need to be huge in order to create a shift.  Even a small change in routine can bring about a new perspective that provides the opportunity to see things more clearly and help you to reconnect with your true self.

Examine how it makes you feel when you make even small changes in your life.  It will likely shift your energy and your attention enough to enable you to open new windows of awareness that you had not noticed before.

When we are under pressure, feeling stressed or drained by our daily routine, it can lead to low self-esteem and cause us to either stagnate or make impulsive decisions that can generate unwanted outcomes that don't reflect our soul-purpose.

When feeling frustrated by stagnation use this time wisely as a reminder to pause and observe.  Take time to notice what is coming up in your awareness, what you feel, what holds your attention, and whether these thoughts feel good or if they make you feel more stressed.  Be curious and ask yourself why you may have certain thoughts and feelings, and what is driving your behaviour.

Time away from the normal routine can enhance our appreciation of our self-worth, and the gratitude we feel for others and our current circumstances.  What's showing up in our life is usually there to mirror back what needs our attention and action.  When we give ourself time to pause and listen to our Higher Self, we can assess more clearly what we can do to create a shift that is more loving and empowers us to live more authentically.

The purpose of creating change is not to escape our fear or avoid what needs our attention.  Creating a shift is how we can be more open to new possibilities that will allow us to live our potential, rather than diminish our growth and happiness.

Changes do not need to be big.  Even the smallest of adjustments to our usual way of thinking and doing things can make a difference to the way we feel and perceive our world.  Avoid radical changes that are impulsive. Take time to consider what's important to you, and the goals or outcomes you would like to achieve in the long term.

A reason for creating change too quickly in order to force a solution or rapidly remove discomfort and frustration is unlikely to give you the long-term outcomes you desire or match your values and soul-purpose.

Personal transformation comes when we are ready.  Be curious, and ensure your self-reflection is compassionate and without judgment. It's okay to notice what hasn't been working. We are usually doing the best we know how at the time.  Avoid self-criticism and shift your focus to what you can do differently, and most importantly, focus on the end-goal.  Acknowledge your unique skills and talents, and seek ways to do more of what you love.  You deserve a life you love.
